FAIRYWILL 507 SONIC ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH REVIEW

PRODUCT RATING
4/5

Testing Time: Used twice daily for the last 2 months.

I brought myself a new toothbrush! The Fairywill 507 to be precise. As an avid manual toothbrush user, I’ve dabbled in the electric toothbrush world a couple of times. However, the charge time and the constant “where did I leave that bloody thing” just wasn’t for me. I’ve had and thrown away two barely-used electric toothbrushes in my life. The no-fuss disposable option just felt easier.

As we entered the Covid-19 lockdown, being at home more, I started to look at my neglected to-do list. All the things I should have done, didn’t bother to do and now couldn’t do. Such as that dentist check-up which is looking pretty overdue. Perhaps it was time to invest in a better toothbrush at the very least?

So, why Fairywill 507?

Well, firstly I was pretty adamant that I wanted a black toothbrush. When it comes to any tech, I always shy away from the white version. Whilst I get white toothbrushes feel more clinical. I just prefer the darker option, it feels less modern.

I had a search around and came across the Fairywill brand on Amazon. I didn’t really want to spend too much as I didn’t want it to be another wasted expense. Fairywill seemed to offer quite a lot for the cost. My order came with 8 various brush heads, a travel case and charger. This came to around Β£23.00 -bargain!

What is a sonic toothbrush?

Well, according to the internet…the main difference is the amount of vibrations per second. A sonic toothbrush apparently moves around 10 times faster than the traditional electric toothbrush. They tend to vibrate, rather than rotate. This is also then supposed to help to remove plaque due to creating extra turbulence in the fluid around the mouth. Honestly, I don’t have an electric toothbrush to compare the two, so, perhaps it’s down to preference. However the concept sounds good in theory and it actually tends to make the brush much quieter than the traditional electric brush.

My thoughts and experience

As someone who has been using manual brushes since, well, forever. I have been using the Fairywill 507 now for the last 2 months, morning and evening. I’ve found I use less toothpaste compared to what I need when I use a manual. I have also found myself exceeding the 2 minutes as I always need to switch the brush back on after it switches itself off. This may have been something I did before but hadn’t realised due to not really timing it. I use the brush with a hard brush head, however, I find this to be similar to a medium hardness of a manual brush. When using, I also keep the mode set to either Whitening or Clean out of the 5 modes available. Whitening seems to be the strongest setting. I like how quickly the brush charges (4 hours!). The charging time was one of my woes about my old electric brushes as they required around 12 hours to charge. It’s also really handy to take away due to the carry case. I feel overall it gives a nice clean. I would like to give a traditional electric brush a try again to compare but for now I’m pretty happy with my purchase – especially for the price!
