Could Metallic be the new Sequin of 2018? We have seen the sequin trend roll in year by year ready for Christmas and New Year. This year seems a little more refined than usual. Sequins are still across the shops, but this year they are trimmed down into little smooth shapes, glued flat to the fabric. Finally, we can now wear sequins without the worry of them scratching any bare skin in sight! Although, there’s a new party fabric that has my attention. Metallic foil, in the most beautiful jewel tones you could imagine. There’s something quite fun in dressing like a fabulous Quality Street chocolate!
When I saw this burnt orange metallic skirt from Nasty Gal I was in love straight away. Even more so when I saw Nasty Gal had 50% everything! The fiery tone, the deep side split and high-shine. It just screamed Autumn Winter and teamed with my copper hair, it just seemed the perfect fit. Worn with these pointed croc boots from New Look I felt a tad witchy, like Hocus Pocus but more…festive? Finished off with this cute New Look heart shaped bag and this navy-faced Ice Watch. I seriously LOVE navy with copper right now.
Nasty Gal has a few different metallic goodies in at the moment. I’m talking the fanciest of greens, silvers, even iridescent white. They’re not the only ones embracing this foil trend though, ASOS, Monki and Boohoo are also making their way on to my metallic wishlist. Although sequin is always going to be a strong competitor this time of year. We all love to glam it up to our Christmas Party and enter the New Year with a sparkle. Metallic however is a more comfortable option. Whilst still allowing you to be seen from outer space of course! What do you think of this shiny new trend?
